EtiketOku (Frisk): Product Health Scanner
Mobile app demo that scans barcodes to show a 0-100 health score for food and cosmetic products, with ingredient risk analysis, alternative suggestions and gamification.
EtiketOku (Frisk) is a product health scanner mobile app that scans the barcode of food and cosmetic products and shows a health score between 0 and 100. It brings together ingredient risk analysis, alternative product suggestions, gamification with points and badges, and the Frisk+ subscription in a single user flow. Built with 14 screens, Turkish content and an original mascot-based design, it is currently a demo build that has not yet been published to the app stores.
About the Project
For most consumers, product labels are long ingredient lists full of hard-to-understand terms. Knowing whether a product is genuinely healthy means researching every ingredient one by one, which is not practical while shopping. EtiketOku (Frisk) solves this by reducing the entire label to a single, understandable score.
The user scans the product barcode with the phone camera; the app identifies the product, analyzes its ingredients and produces a 0-100 health score. Alongside the score, risky ingredients are highlighted and alternatives are suggested for those looking for a better option. A points-and-badges gamification layer encourages regular use, and the Frisk+ subscription is designed for advanced features.
The app is currently at the demo stage and has not yet been published to the app stores. The demo consists of 14 screens, prepared entirely in Turkish with an original visual identity built around a mascot designed for the app.
Key Features
- Barcode scanning and 0-100 health score: Scanning the barcode of a food or cosmetic product identifies it and shows a 0-100 health score based on its ingredients. The user gets a clear picture at a glance without reading the long ingredient list.
- Ingredient risk analysis: Ingredients are evaluated for risk, and the substances that deserve attention are clearly shown to the user. This makes the reasoning behind the score transparent.
- Alternative suggestions: When a low-scoring product is scanned, higher-scoring alternatives are suggested, guiding the user to the healthier option without an extra search.
- Gamification with points and badges: Actions such as scanning and discovering products earn points, and users who reach specific goals unlock badges. This supports regular use and the habit of making healthier choices.
- Frisk+ subscription: The in-app Frisk+ subscription forms the premium tier and revenue model of the product, so a sustainable business model is already in place at the demo stage.
- Turkish content and original mascot design: All interface texts and ingredient explanations are written in Turkish. The mascot designed for the app presents a serious topic like health in a friendly and accessible tone.
Technology & Architecture
EtiketOku (Frisk) was developed on a modern mobile app foundation as an end-to-end flow of 14 screens for the demo. The app flow is organized around its main functional areas: barcode scanning and product identification, ingredient risk analysis and scoring, points-and-badges gamification, and the Frisk+ subscription. The scanning, score result, alternative suggestion, gamification and subscription screens sit within this flow as complementary steps.
On the design side, the mascot character and the Turkish content are what make the product distinctive. The demo build is meant to evaluate the product flows, scoring approach and subscription model on real screens before the store release.
